Windy Thursday with Audrey

Kitties, we had SUCH wind and rain last night!     Mom could hear it roaring through the night.  It is still windy but not as much, and the sun is coming out.

Audrey has, after 1 1/2 years here, finally discovered she likes to look out the windows.  Dad set up a chair in the dining room window for her, with a towel so she doesn't claw the chair.   Some times she looks out the window at the little birds and squirrels, sometimes she takes a little nap.

You can see that right front paw gripping on a bit, so you can see why the (old) towel is a good idea.  Besides, it is comfy and PINK!

Slightly Snowy Saturday

We had snow last night, but probably less than an inch.     As with a large portion of the US, our weather has been cold.   Yesterday afternoon Dad let us go out on the deck and he put down small folded towels for us to sit on so our bottoms and paws weren't too cold.      Audrey moved before Mom could get a photo of her, but here is Simba sitting on his.     He ran inside just after this.

Our outside thermometer has been showing some pretty low readings - this is comparatively warm yesterday afternoon.

Trying to Get Mom to Help Us Blog

Really, Mom has become such a slacker.  She hasn't taken any new pictures of us recently, and now she is away visiting that Baby person and her parents!   But we sent her an email and said to her that she HAD to find a picture on her laptop she could use and post SOMETHING.

Here is Audrey at Christmastime, and you can see that Baby Person in the background.

Further proof that we warmed up to her and didn't have to run UTB all the time when she was around.     Mom got out some of Audrey's first Mom's baby toys (yeah, they save EVERYTHING), and you can see the Chime Ball in the picture too.   Humans of a certain vintage may recognize it.    They don't make toys nowadays like they used to!   Although they do make some good new stuff.     The Baby likes music and songs, and she is starting to try to sing along when the humans sing Old Macdonald to her.     She doesn't do Meow, but she tries to do the Bow part of Bow Wow.     And the E I E I O part. She is 8 months old now.    We sure hope she gets tot he Meow part soon since the Cat is the most important animal on the Farm.

Floofy Friday

Happy Friday, kitties!   Whoohoo for those with traditional working humans: a weekend is coming up! Our Mom has to be back in the saddle on the 22nd only.

Still mining some of the pictures The Baby's Mom took of us:  here I am with our "toy box"and toys.

After Christmas Dad said we really needed something a little better than a cardboard box for them, so he bought a plastic see through bigger box.     Not that classy, but definitely classier.

Tabbycat Tuesday

Hi, Audrey here.

Sorry we have been lax on posting.     Dad has been sick and we have been helping Mom to take care of him.     Mom took me to the dreaded v-e-t yesterday for my checkup.     Dr Wilson said I look good - and hooray, not shots!    I have lost weight since coming to live here, but he thinks I am now a good weight.  However in a month we will go back for another weight check, just in case something is going on.     He didn't want to steal my bluds unnecessarily.   There was a HUUUUUUGGGGE doggie there in the waiting room, bigger than any dog Mom had ever seen before, and the owner said she was just a PUPPY still!    A Great Dane.

Keep your pawrents healthy, kitties.  There is a ton of flu around.

Would you believe it?

As many of you know, our town requires residents to register their pets, including cats, with the town and pay a license fee each year.   This occurs in January.    On Wednesday, Dad diligently went to the town hall to get this done and we ended up with our tags with the following numbers:

Audrey - 001
Simba- 002

Two years ago, Simba was 007.

Now Simba's nose is a little out of joint because he wasn't number 001, having been here for longer than Audrey.   Maybe they did it in alphabetical order?

But think about it, kitties.    You know how amazing James Bond 007 is at solving mysteries and catching spies and so on.   We never ever got to know 001 and 002 but they must have been even more amazing.     Don't you think?    We think it is going to be an awesomely interesting year!  Better rest up a while, awaiting our first assignments!

Thankful and Thoughtful Thursday

We are thankful we have a warm house and cozy spots to sleep.     When Mom read about Governor Christie blasting the House of Representatives for not voting on a bill to provide funds for Sandy victims and rebuilding, she was reminded of how many peoples' homes were destroyed or damaged.

Also on our minds: so many who we know who have recently been diagnosed and/or treated with various forms of cancer.    It just seems like such an upsurge, and our hearts go out to them and their families.    We hope and purr that the new year will bring more progress in treatments and research towards cures.    In that respect it is important that Congress not vote for cutting spending on biological research through the NIH and NSF because it is only through supporting basic research that the gains can be made in finding cures.   So if you have it in mind to write to your Congressmen/women, you could include that thought if you wish.   (our Mom helped us say that).

Next post we promise not to get political.
