Feathered Friends Friday

Sometimes I think my Dad loves birdies more than me. Every evening he fills up the bird feeders and in the summer he fills the hummingbird tubes, before he pays any attention to me. Sometimes that Hurts My Feelings. This pretty birdie is a barn swallow who was at the lodge where my Mom and Dad stayed near Glacier Bay Alaska. She/he is pretty sweet! I hope you Othercats watch birdies but don't eat them! Unless you are feral and then it is okay, since you must be very hungry.

More Cousins Monday

I introduced you to Audrey last week. Just to show that not all my relatives are cats, here is another "cousin" of mine, Josie. Today is close to Josie's second birthday. We think she is a cross between a black lab and a border collie. That little "hat" on the grass is actually her hiking water bowl. She enjoys going on hikes with her bean parents when they have the time.

Josie had a rough start in life. She came from an animal shelter at about 2 months old, and she must have already caught Parvo virus before she got there. Very shortly after arriving at her forever home, she became sick and had a spend a lengthy time at the V-E-T's. Parvo virus is a nasty illness. However she is a healthy girl now.

Next week I will try to introduce you to another of my relatives.

Edited to add:I have never met Josie in the fur; she has 2 kitty siblings, so I think she would play nicely with me if I ever did get to meet her.

Favorite Felines on Friday

Meet my cousin Audrey, She is a sweetheart. Technically she is not my cousin, but my "niece" but cousin seems simpler. And she is a little older than me. Or at least her Mom got her before my Mom and Dad got me. She is named Audrey after Audrey Hepburn.

Audrey is a very snuggly kitty. She loves to snuggle with her Mom, in her catbeds, in catblankets, in human blankets, with almost any other human, you name it. She has a very big heart. She has a very good appetite for foodies, so her Mom has to carefully control her portions and access to food, otherwise she would become a Little Bit Fat. Because the foodies doesn't only go into feeding her big heart, but also her sides.

I have never actually met Audrey in the fur, but I feel as if I know her very well, as if she is part of my very own family. Which, I guess, she is! I hope I get to meet her for real soon. I think we would get along very well.

Audrey has her own blog, and has even written some Haiku poems on it, but she hasn't posted in quite a while. If you like, you can go and leave her a comment to tell her to start blogging again. Her blog address is http://audreythecat.blogspot.com

My First Blog Award

"Cat of Nine Tales" has given me my first blog award! Thanks so much! It is called "This Blog is a Dream".

I need to pick three other blogs to pass the award on to. Since I started blogging I have met so many wonderful other kitties (and doggies too) that it is hard to know who to choose. I have decided to pick blogs from countries other than my own. These are my three nominations:

Please pay their blogs a visit if you have not done so already.

Thanks to everybody for being so kind and friendly.

Counting

Can you count how many whiskers I have from this picture? I will never stay still long enough to have my whiskers counted in "real time". If you biggify the picture, then my whiskers show quite nicely.

I am also counting the days until Thanksgiving and Christmas because there will be bound to be yummy turkey and giblets to eat on both of those holidays. You may notice I skipped Halloween. I do not eat candy. I am a little bit scared when the kids come to the door, but I am curious enough to still sneak a peak at them.

Happy Sunday!

Favorite Felines on Friday

When I came to live with my family six years ago, there was another ginger cat already living there - this is my bro Rusty. As you can see, he had short fur, and he was long and lean in the body, so we were like a Mutt and Jeff team. We were only a match in our coloring. At first, he was not thrilled to see me, but over time we got to be good friends, and would lie together on our favorite blanket. I always let him be the boss. Rusty was allowed to go outside, but I was not. He had a very big desire to be out and was miserable if confined to the house. He had all his claws, whereas I was missing my front ones, and I had no clue about finding my way back to my own porch or deck, even if I was just next door (once when I did escape, I went onto the decks of the neighboring houses, thinking they were my house!).

Sadly, Rusty's love of the outdoors ended up taking him to the Rainbow Bridge when he was about 13 years old. My folks are fairly certain he was taken by a fox or coyote, which made them extremely upset. Even though we live in a fairly populated area, there are deer, and foxes and very occasionally coyotes in the area.

We remember Rusty with great affection. Rusty, we hope you are enjoying the Infinite Outdoors over the Bridge.

Sleeping Soundly on Monday

For me, and I guess most of my readers, there is sleeping and then there is SLEEEEEEEping. That is what I am doing here. When the weather gets chilly and my Mom gets out the favorite blankie on the sofa, the messier the blanket, the better. Then I can really get snuggled into it and go into a deep sleep. After all, it was a very tiring weekend, all sorts of activity going on. Thankfully they are back to work today (no Columbus Day holiday around here!).

Relaxing on Sunday

Ho, hum. I think I like the idea that Sunday is a Day Of Rest. This is my 10% Conscious look.

Have a great week, everyone!

Crossing Paws

I was reading all about Snafu from Cat of Nine Tales, and discovered (among many other interesting things about him) that he likes to lie with crossed-paws. Me too! Here I am on my favorite deck, in super-relaxation mode with my criss-cross paws. Please forgive the fact that I like my creature comforts, so prefer to lie in a shady spot under a chair, and on something soft, rather than the deck boards.

What are You doing this weekend?

Thinking

I am thinking these deer look pretty nice, and that they are looking right at me.

But now I am not so sure - this deer looks pretty vishus if she is able to eat her own foot! I am thinking I need to contact Skeezix for some of his deer repellant.

Cat Blogging

This is my usual blogging position. Thank goodness we have a cordless keyboard and mouse. Those wires would be uncomfortable.

What is YOUR favorite blogging poition?

Plotting

I enjoy spending time on the deck at our house, especially because I am not supposed to go down below. That is because I am a bit clueless about "map skills" and also a LOT defenseless without front claws (for any reader who doesn't believe in declawing cats, I was already declawed in the front when I was adopted). To stop me running down the steps my Mom and Dad usually have the stairway blocked off with plastic mesh fencing. However on this day, the fencing was down, and they had blocked off the stairway with a planter of flowers. You can see above how I am calculating how to get across the planter and down the stairs in one jump.

Oh, hello, I didn't know you were there. No, of course I was not going to jump over the flowers! You know I am a Very Good Boy.

Hiding

I usually take a nap behind the curtains in the mornings. I especially like to do this because I know nobody can see me. I am invisible.

Fall Friday

I love Fall. It is neither too hot nor too cold. My Mom and Dad don't let me outside alone, but one day they let me be outside among the leaves, with supervision. First I sniffed the air, taking in all the amazing scents.

Then I listened (my hearing is extremely sharp) to sounds in the distance - a dog barking, cars on a nearby street, the breeze blowing in the trees.

Finally I looked all around, seeing little chipmunks and birds and squirrels, as well as the leaves blowing about on the grass.

Happy October to all!

Turkey Thursday

We have a family of wild turkeys in our neighborhood. The babies ( 7 of them I think) follow the mother around everywhere. But now the babies are as big as the mother. Hilarious. My Mom says it reminds her of the way I try to climb onto her shoulder as if I was still a ball of fluff kitten.

Thanksgiving dinner, anyone?
